IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE RE: ROUTE 820 CLOSURE BELOW

FROM FAYTENE: Firstly, I want to thank everyone in the Upham/Titusville area who has reached out to me regarding the road closure.

While I am not currently the M.L.A. (the election will take place this fall), I am humbled that you feel confident contacting me. It is my honour to serve you as a neighbour and advocate at this time.

Secondly, I want to share a few steps I have taken to advocate for the community in response to this situation and a few encouraging updates:

1. VISITING ROBINSON ROAD: Upon hearing of the issue, we visited Robinson Road to assess the situation firsthand. We also reached out to key individuals in Fredericton to better understand what had occurred. Below is a photo from that day.

2. ASSURANCE OF EXPEDIENCY: The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure (The Hon. Richard Ames) has assured me that the repair will be expedited as quickly as possible to minimize the inconvenience.

3. VISITING THE DIRECT NEIGHBOURHOOD: This past Saturday, we visited each of the homes most impacted by the closure and spoke directly with residents. The person most affected was thankful for the repair, as it will address long-standing erosion concerns on their front lawn. Neighbours I spoke with were also in agreement that the repair was needed. Finally, everyone agrees that DTI’s communication with residents could have been better.  I will be advocating for improved communication processes in the future.

I have also been in contact with the local councillor and residents to stay informed about the ongoing situation.

4. COMPENSATION: DTI has an online form for anyone who has experienced vehicle damage on the detour. That form can be found here: https://www2.gnb.ca/content/dam/gnb/Departments/trans/pdf/forms-formulaires/property-damage-claim-form.pdf

In addition, we are in contact with benefactors to explore the possibility of providing benevolent gas assistance to those who need it.

If you have anything you would like to share with me, or if you have a question, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at faytene@votefaytene.ca or 506-522-8880.

If I miss your call, I will return it at the first opportunity.

Thank you again to everyone who reached out and for trusting me to be your advocate.

A resource page has been set up on my website, and this and future updates will be posted for your convenience.
